Coach TJ Ross has previously coached at Dobyns Bennett High School as the Freshman Head Coach for 4 years from 2008-2012 and has been the Robinson Head Coach for the past 3 years, 2014-present. He enjoys working with and teaching kids of all ages the game of basketball.
Coach James Scales is a native of Rogersville, Tennessee, graduating from Cherokee High School in 2012. Under head coach Jeremy Parrott, James was apart of Cherokee’s 2012 TSSAA State Tournament team, which is also the winningest team in school history. A 3-year starter at Cherokee, he was chosen All-Conference and All-District in 2011 and 2012 and All-Region I in 2012. In his junior season, James was selected District II AAA Player of the Year, along with being chosen All-State in 2012. He was selected to the All-Lakeway team twice, in addition to being named a two-time selection to the Kingsport Times News Elite Squad. Coach Scales is an alumnus of the former Nike EYBL Tennessee Travelers AAU program, in which he played for two summers. James went on to attend King University where he played the point guard position for 4 years under Coach George Pitts. He was apart of the 2016 Conference Carolinas Championship team. He graduated from King in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & History. Coach Scales has worked with several AAU programs before coming to TNT. Joining Coach Parrott once again as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for Bearden High School, Knoxville, Coach Scales coaches the junior varsity team and assists the varsity. As a member of the varsity staff, Coach Scales helped the Bulldogs to reach the TSSAA AAA State Tournament this past March. James is currently serving as a teaching assistant at Bearden while finishing his Master of Education degree at King University. Coach Scales has a passion for player development, emphasizing skill and mentality.
